Who we are
Please take a moment and get to know our Executive Chef and Owner, Cody Shumway. The excerpt was written by his brother Shane, whom he loves with a fierce conviction.
“Cody is an experienced Chef who brings a unique perspective to anything he chooses to be a part of. From his time as an Executive Chef at both Elizabeth Manor Golf and Country Club and the VB Oceanfront Wyndham Hotel to his tenure as the Food and Beverage Director at the historic Hotel 24 South, he created a noticeable impact. Cody sees the world as full of opportunity and has an eye for striking while the iron is hot. When he encounters adversity, he sees it as an opportunity to prove that he can overcome it.
It all started when he was a young man at the age of 15. Looking for something he loved, somewhere he could find himself, he came across food, and that was that. Since then, he's crafted beautiful creations that appeal to both the eye and taste buds. Cody's food tells the story of his soul, each meal made with all his experiences.
While food will always be his first love, it certainly isn't his only love. Cody's heart will always belong to the mountains, where he has room to spread his wings and plenty of room for his dog Zoey to run out her endless energy. When he's not in the kitchen, he's taking care of his family, his wife and two wonderful children whom he adores and would do anything for.
Among his many inspirations, music stands out the most to him. Moving about the kitchen with rhythm while listening to something that keeps him grooving is when he's at his peak. With the many adversities he's conquered in his life, there's nothing in the world that could ever come between him and his love of food, family, and fun."
